About Us
Pilbara ISOCo Limited is the government appointed independent system operator for the North-West Interconnected System (NWIS), an electricity grid serving mining, industrial, commercial and residential loads in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
The functions of the Pilbara ISOCo are set out in Part 8A of the Electricity Industry Act 2004 and the Pilbara Network Rules. Among other things, the Pilbara ISOCo is responsible for maintaining and improving the security of the power system and facilitating network coordination and planning.
The Pilbara ISOCo also has a limited role in respect of non-interconnected and non-covered Pilbara networks, being the collection and reporting of information to support whole of system planning.
The Company was registered in June 2021 as an incorporated not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee under the Corporations Act 2001. The founding members of Pilbara ISOCo are the three interconnected registered network services providers – Alinta DEWAP, Horizon Power and Rio Tinto.

The Board has delegated the day-to-day management of the company to its Chief Executive Officer, James Campbell-Everden, and has strict protocols around decision making in order to manage director conflicts of interest.
