APA DEWAP submitted a request to Pilbara ISOCo (ISO) under Rule 68 of the Pilbara Networks Rules (Rules), seeking an exemption from clauses of the Electricity Industry (Metering) Code 2012 (Metering Code).
Rule 68 of the Rules allows for the ISO to grant an exemption from one or more requirements of the Metering Code if it is satisfied that:
(a)There is a reasonable prospect that the cost burden of compliance with the requirement may outweigh the benefits; and
(b) For the exemption’s duration, the Network Service Provider will have in place alternative arrangements which deal to a good electricity industry practice (GEIP) standard with the relevant matter or matters.
An exemption under Rule 68 cannot:
(a) Reduce or hinder a protection or benefit given directly or indirectly to a small-use customer; or
(b) Prevent or hinder contestable customer’s ability to change electricity retailers.
The ISO followed the standard consultation process outlined in Appendix 1 of the Rules.
