Following feedback from stakeholders on EMT modelling, the ISO has chosen to further examine and consult on the current requirements for EMT modelling in the NWIS.
This consultation takes a broad approach to considering the implementation of EMT modelling, specifically:
- Are EMT studies required?
- If yes, then –
- What approach to EMT studies should be adopted; and
- What EMT software options are available?
The outcome of this process will be used to develop guidance on the use of EMT modelling in the NWIS, which may also include proposed changes to the ISO’s Interim Power System Modelling Procedure and Access and Connection Procedure.
The ISO wants to make participation in this review as non-burdensome as possible, and accordingly would prefer to obtain stakeholder feedback on the Issues Paper through informal communication and discussion. Public consultation is an important part of ISO’s transparent decision-making process. All consultation will be undertaken in accordance with the ISO Consultation Policy.

Submissions
Pilbara ISOCo is inviting stakeholders to provide feedback on the EMT Modelling Issues Paper before 5pm on Monday 9 June 2025.
All feedback and submissions received are taken into account in decision-making.
The ISO seeks to be transparent in its consultation processes. Generally, written submissions received will be published on this website.
However, the ISO recognises that a stakeholder may wish to provide confidential information or make a confidential submission, in which case:
- please clearly identify to ISO which parts of any submission are confidential;
- wherever possible, please refrain from making blanket claims of confidentiality over an entire submission;
- for any written submission, please also provide a redacted version for publication.
The ISO will deal with any claims of confidentiality in accordance with Rules A1.8 and A1.9 for the Rules.
